There are movies out there that are bad, not meant to be but just bad, and then there are movies out there that are so bad they are funny.
Last night I watched Sharknado 2: The Second One. Now before you start judging and rolling your eyes, I knew going in the movies was bad. I saw the first one. This one was even worse but you know what, it was funny and a enjoyable way to waste 90 minutes of my Wednesday night. The best part was the cameos and the inside jokes. Robert Hays (Airplane!) made a cameo as a pilot of a plane going down. Judd Hirsch had a cameo as a cab driver (he was in the tv show Taxi in case you don’t remember). Jared under a Subway sign at a New York underground subway train station. Billy Ray Cyrus as a doctor, a role he played in Doc. There were several more throughout the movie. Then add the many references to Jaws, Airplane! and others, it made for a fun movie. For me part of the fun was looking for the cameos and the inside jokes/references. Yes the acting was terrible, the script horrible, the CGI even worse. I mean tell me there really is no crowd outside CitiField during a Mets game? The concourse of the stadium is also empty during the game?
Yes it was bad but you know what, I can’t wait for Sharknado 3 due out July 2015.
