Not only is Hilary a great singer and songwriter, she has the awards to back it up. Some of the awards she has won include:
Best Local Musician 2005 and 2006, Inside Columbia (Missouri) Magazine
2014 Americana/Folk Album of the Year, Flowers on Mars, Rural Roots Music Commission of the National Traditional Country Music Association
Freight Train Love album awarded 2015 Vintage Folk Album of the Year from the Rural Roots Music Commission of the National Traditional Country Music Association
“Didn’t Make It Alive” – Semi-finalist in the UK Songwriting competition 2014.
She has released 10 albums/EP with her most recent album Freight Train Love in 2014.
Her name is not Hilary Scott, she took the name Scott in honor of her older brother Scott, who passed away in 1998 of complications due to epilepsy. Little did she know that several years later another Hillary Scott, (this one with “two Ls”) would hit the music scene as part of the country group Lady Antebellum. She has toured Europe, Asia, the UK along with the US. She has opened for such artists as Little Feat, Chuck Berry and Tanya Tucker. Her fans contributed over $10,000 to her Indie Go Go campaign to help with her Freight Train Love album
She is currently on tour and I am lucky enough to get to see her Saturday night, plus she has graciously agreed, along with drummer/husband AJ Gennaro, to make an appearance on Front Range Radio Sunday night on KCMJ at 9pm ET. Its going to be a good weekend for me.
Please join me Sunday night to hear some great music from Hilary Scott and to learn more about this singer/songwriter.
Good show tonight, nice interview. I finally listened to last weeks holiday edition, I really liked the Wes Craven tribute. Have a great week!
Thank you. She was a fun person to talk with. Glad you enjoyed the Wes Craven opener. May you have a good week also.
