The Californian’s self titled debut EP was released earlier this year. Jacob started out acting, appearing in movies with such notables as Leonardo DiCaprio, Cate Blanchett, Alec Baldwin, Susan Sarandon, Amy Poehler, and David Arquette. He has had prominent roles in such films as The Aviator (2004), Mr. Woodcock (2007), and The Adventures Of Sharkboy and Lavagirl 3D (2005). “I fell into acting when I was around 12,” Jacob explains. “I used to play guitar to keep my mind occupied while I waited for the phone to ring for acting gigs, but music took over and loved it more than acting. When you’re in a movie, you’re told what to do, but I loved that with music you have full creative control.”
The five song EP includes a remake of the Bob Dylan song “I Shall Be Released” The remaining tracks on the EP include “Don’t Run Don’t Hide” a song about not letting the worst of us get the best of us. “How You Gonna Tell Me” “That song is about a girlfriend in college that I deeply cared about but I just couldn’t put my feelings into words. The message is: Be authentic and say what’s in your heart,” Jacob explains.
Listening to the the EP, I found it to be a relaxing, a nice album with good vocals and instrumentation. “How You Gonna Tell Me” and “Hold On” are the two tracks I enjoyed the most. It was interesting to hear Jacob’s take of the Dylan song “I Shall Be Released”
I will air one of the tracks off the EP this Sunday on Front Range Radio, which can be heard at 9pm ET on KCMJ
