It has been a few years since I last drove up to the top of Pike’s Peak, so today I decided to make that long overdue journey back to the top.The drive is not for the weak as there are many sharp u-turn curves and during some points there is not much road between your car and the edge of the mountain. All those things make the drive that much more exciting, and to think every June they race up to the top of the mountain averaging 90mph. Oh and did I mention the top of Pike’s Peak is over 14,000 feet above sea level? There is a marathon next weekend to the top of Pike’s Peak if you are interested in running to the top instead of driving a car.
Today was a beautiful day to take the trip the clouds were not bad so I could get get views of Colorado Springs and beyond. I was even luck enough to see some wildlife. I really need to make this trip more often.
If you happen to watch Fast and Furious 7, part of that was filmed on the highway going up to Pike’s Peak. The mountain scenes with the cars and the black bus in the first half of the trailer were filmed on Pike’s Peak.
Old Zebulon Pike would be proud to have that mountain named in his honor.
Yes he would although he never made it to the top.
Fantastic photos! There is no way I could run to the top. Drive maybe – not at 90 mph though 😀
Thank you very much. Yeah, no way I could run it either.
No way….drive, run, crawl….no way. Flat land is my friend. 🙂
And here I was going to give you a free pass to go up the mountain. 😀
Good show tonight, I think the interview went very well. Have a great week!😃
Thank you for your kind words and for listening it very much appreciated
