As the remaining hours of this weekend tick away
I wonder why the weekend couldn’t have an extra day
One more day to relax and sleep in late
Or one more day to take my sweetie on a date
Lets make Monday the new Sunday, shorten the work week
Then I would have an extra day to fish down at the creek
Congress since you can’t resolve our national debt
You should be able to pass a longer weekend bill without a sweat
A longer weekend is something in which we all can agree
Young and old, female or male, all would shout with glee
An extra day for the weekend to twist and shout
Or just watch tv and sit on the couch.
